TEACH AT ONE OF THE COMMUNITY CENTRES

Once school has finished we take a short break and then the after school programme begins, usually kicking off around 2pm. You will work in groups of 2+ putting your lesson plans (which you created at the start of the week) into action! The first hour of the programme will consist of English lessons aligned with the Sri Lankan syllabus. Create activities which cover topics that are interesting to both you and your students. Don’t worry we give you plenty of guidelines for this!

GET MORE CREATIVE!

The second hour of the programme gives you freedom to teach any topics that you wish to share to the children. This could include Drama; playing various drama games and rehearsing short plays. Arts and crafts; helping the students create their own pieces of art. Geography; teaching the children about all the other countries you’ve been lucky enough to travel to. Dance; teach the students various dance choreographies

MANACARE PROJECT

Manacare is a community based project where we also hold our Sports Development and Textiles & Design programme. Teach your own English classes in groups to children from the local community. The programmes run in the afternoons after school has finished. We like to make these classes a bit more fun by bringing in drama games, art and crafts and more interactive teaching methods! All the staff at Manacare are very friendly and always smiling! You will also be able to see all the amazing products the Textiles Team have been making!
