Full itinerary
Day 1 – Exploring Marrakech
Discovering the Souks and Palaces
The group arrives at Marrakech airport where our in-country staff will meet you on arrival before taking the group to our Marrakech accommodation. All volunteers will be staying in the same hotel, so this is a great place to relax with friends before kicking off the tour! The group arrives at Marrakech airport and meets our in-country staff on arrival.
Students will then enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech's souks (markets) and palaces of the old medina. The group will explore the Jamna el Fnaa square with its story tellers, orange juice sellers and the Koutoubia Mosque.
Day 2 - Film Set Tour & The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou
Explore Film Sets & Ancient Cities
After breakfast on the 2nd day, we drive through beautiful terrain to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert featuring spectacular palaces and fortified cities.
Arriving in Ouarzazate, the group will tour the film sets of Atlas Studios where various films such as Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator were filmed.
The group will also visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a World Heritage site and a prime example of an ancient, fortified town. It also has been used in many films and series including Game of Thrones!
Day 3 - Camel Trek & Overnight Camping
Camel Trekking and Sandboarding
This is your opportunity to experience the Sahara Desert! The group will trek with camels through sand dunes, small farms & fishing huts to reach the campsite for the night. Students can help with watering and feeding the camels as well as helping the cooks prepare the evening meal - a great opportunity to learn about traditional Moroccan cuisine! In the evening, the group enjoys sunset sandboarding in the dunes followed by a night of wild camping in the desert.
Day 4 & 5 - Community Development in the Atlas Mountains
Volunteering in the Atlas Mountains
Our volunteer programme focuses on Community Development in the mountain villages of Morocco. This programme gives you unique access to live in a small community helping develop education, infrastructure & agriculture.
The mountainous regions of North Africa offer our volunteers a real eye-opening experience – with breath-taking landscapes, fascinating culture and welcoming people, but infrastructure within the communities can be pretty basic.
Travelteer‛s fundraising aims to make a big impact on these mountain communities, investing in the infrastructure that will provide children with brighter futures. Our sustainable projects have already improved agriculture, educational equipment and living conditions in a number of villages and we‛re just getting started!
Day 6 - Donkey Rescue Centre & Accro Park
Students will volunteer at the centre for the day - helping to look after the rescue animals such as feeding, washing and mucking out their pens!
In addition to volunteering with rescue animals, the group will also head to 'Terres d'Amanar' an amazing adventure park with activities such as ziplining and adventure courses through the forest.
The group will return to Marrakech in the evening for a last-minute shopping trip to the souks or a swim in the hotel pool.
Day 7 – Fly back to the UK
Flight home
The following morning will see the group transferred back to the airport for flights home.
