Turing Funding
What is Turing funding?
The Turing Scheme is UK Government funding that can help eligible university students take part in international study, work and volunteering placements.
Placements can last from 14 days to 12 months, meaning many Travelteer programmes can qualify.
Funding may contribute towards:
✈️ Travel
International travel and other eligible travel costs.
🏠 Living costs
A daily contribution towards living costs while overseas.
🌍 Your placement
Funding can help make an international volunteering experience more affordable.
♿ Additional support
Extra funding may be available for eligible students with additional needs or financial barriers.
How much funding could I get?
For 2026/27, eligible higher education students undertaking placements of 14–56 days can receive a daily living-cost contribution of:
£17–£19 per day
Standard funding
£21–£23 per day
Eligible disadvantaged students
Additional travel and travel-readiness funding may also be available.
Your university decides how its Turing allocation is distributed, so the amount you receive will depend on your university, destination, placement and circumstances.

Your university isn't listed?
That doesn't necessarily mean you can't use Turing funding for a Travelteer placement. Speak to your university's Go Abroad, International, Study Abroad, Careers or Volunteering team to find out what funding is available.
How does it work?
01 — Choose your trip
Explore Travelteer's volunteering programmes and find the destination and project that's right for you. Apply online at Travelteer - www.travelteer.co.uk/apply
02 — Speak to your university
Contact your university's international, study abroad, volunteering or careers team and ask about using Turing funding for a Travelteer placement.
03 — Apply for funding
Your university manages its Turing funding and will tell you how to apply and what you may be eligible to receive.
04 — Start planning
Once your place and funding are confirmed, we'll help you get everything ready for your trip.
Important: 2026/27 is the final Turing year
The 2026/27 academic year is the final year of the Turing Scheme.
The UK Government has confirmed that Turing will not operate for 2027/28, with Erasmus+ returning from 2027.
